Abstract

Processing fresh fruit bunches (FFB) into palm oil produces production waste in the form of solid, liquid, and gas waste. Palm oil processing factories produce by-products in the form of empty oil palm bunches (EFB). In recent years, EFB has been used as weed control, maintaining soil moisture, preventing erosion and environmentally friendly by processing it into compost as fertilizer. The EFB decomposition process is a natural process that usually occurs in nature which takes a long time (6 months) to decompose. To accelerate the decomposition process of organic matter by adding an activator, namely the decomposer fungus Trichoderma sp. This study was conducted to determine the effect and dosage of indigenous Trichoderma sp as a decomposer on the quality of EFB compost. This study was conducted at the Compost House of the Faculty of Agriculture, Agrotechnology Study Program, Pasir Pangaraian University, Jl. Kumu, Rambah Hilir Village, Rokan Hulu Regency. The research time was carried out from April to May 2025. This study used a descriptive approach by taking data from 5 treatment samples and then presented descriptively. The results of the study on the quality of OPEFB compost with Trichoderma sp. showed that the application of various doses of OPEFB with Trichoderma sp. decomposer T4 treatment with a water content of 74.83%, organic C 41.27%, total N 1.66%, phosphorus 0.46%, potassium 2.65%, magnesium 0.85%, pH 7.80 neutral slightly wet and C/N ratio 24.86% is included in the best category in the study.
