Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) at school is an important foundation for establishing healthy habits from school age. This community service activity aimed to strengthen fifth-grade students’ understanding and skills regarding PHBS, with an emphasis on handwashing with soap. The activity was conducted at SDN Kubang Kemanisan, Serang, involving 29 fifth-grade students. Preparation was carried out on 13–18 July 2026 and included coordination, material development, selection of interactive videos, preparation of educational media, and team task allocation. Implementation and evaluation were conducted on 20 July 2026 through participatory education using interactive videos, question-and-answer sessions, demonstrations, and direct handwashing practice. Evaluation used a simple pretest and posttest to identify students’ understanding, accompanied by observation of participation and practice. At pretest, 6 of 29 students (20.7%) were categorized as understanding the material; at posttest, this increased to 27 students (93.1%), representing an increase of 21 students or 72.4 percentage points. Activity documentation also showed active participation during discussions, demonstrations, and handwashing practice. Combining audiovisual media with demonstration offers a concrete learning experience appropriate for school-aged children. This activity indicates that interactive video-based PHBS education combined with hands-on practice is feasible as a school health promotion strategy. Continuous reinforcement by teachers and adequate handwashing facilities are required to support the development of sustained habits.
