Abstract

Marching is an activity frequently held in various regions across Indonesia. It typically takes place during specific events, such as celebrations of Indonesia’s Independence Day. To successfully execute a march, a team must demonstrate unity, sufficient stamina, and knowledge. Marching is not merely about a team walking together; there are several aspects that are evaluated in a marching team. In a marching team, cohesion is essential—such as synchronized movements from every team member—which reflects the team’s unity and aesthetic appeal. In addition to cohesion, each team member must possess strong stamina, as marching is a physically demanding activity that depletes energy. To perform cohesively, the team must also have knowledge of the rules, movement variations, and other technical aspects. Marching groups typically have key roles with specific responsibilities, such as the squad leader, who is tasked with leading the formation, and the coach, who trains the team, creates movement variations, and provides insights into marching. During a marching performance, effective communication is essential to achieve shared goals and foster cohesion.
